The Beginning

When we dreamed of opening a retail store, we knew we didn't want it to feel like a typical thrift store. We envisioned a beautiful, thoughtfully curated space that felt warm, welcoming and inspiring. A place where every detail reflected the feeling of home.

That dream became a reality thanks to the extraordinary generosity of the owners of our Scott Street location. Their gift of six months of rent-free occupancy, followed by six months of graduated rent, made what could have been an insurmountable leap not only possible, but successful. In September 2022, we officially opened the doors to Furnish Hope & Home.

A woman is standing on a couch, holding a piece of paper, and smiling, while another woman is kneeling on the couch, reaching for a wind chime hanging from the ceiling. The room has a monitor, a clock, and framed pictures on the wall.
Two women are interacting at an outdoor event, one is an elderly woman with white hair and sunglasses on her head, and the other is a middle-aged woman wearing a black T-shirt. They are looking at a framed item, possibly a photo or document, held by the middle-aged woman. Behind them, there are decorations including black, white, and gold balloons, and other people are visible in the background.

More Than We Ever Imagined. More Than A Store.

The response exceeded every expectation. Customers embraced the concept, generous donors continued providing beautiful furniture and home decor, and the community quickly discovered that every purchase helped transform houses into homes for local families.

Today, Furnish Hope & Home is much more than a social enterprise. It's a welcoming community gathering place where volunteers build lasting friendships and every shopper is invited into our mission.

More than half of our customers discover Furnish Hope for the very first time when they visit the store. Many later return as furniture donors, volunteers, or advocates, making the store a natural gateway to deeper community involvement.
